The current situation with Theo Walcott sums up the difference between Arsene Wenger and Jose Mourinho. Theo Walcott is very much a fan favourite amongst supporters at Arsenal, probably because he signed when he was 16, but other than 2012/13 has he really had a brilliant season. (Even in that season his goals and assist statistics were diluted by cup competitions)
Last summer we brought two players in of a similar mould to Walcott. Sanchez and Welbeck can both operate in wide areas and up front. This suggests maybe Wenger doesn't see as much in Theo as he makes out.
I agree with other fans with the idea that we need a new forward if we are to challenge but we have too many attackers to bring one in without letting one go. I think it's time to move Walcott on. Arsene Wenger becomes too attached to players and he refuses to move them on.
Jose Mourinho sold Chelsea's POTY the previous two seasons because he felt Mata wouldn't contribute to his system. Popular players like Lukaku, Kevin de Bruyne and Schurrle have all been moved on.
I'm sure many Chelsea would have wanted them to stay but 12 months on they are celebrating the league title with a nice 11-point cushion. If Arsenal are to move forward we need to remove our attachment to decent players.
The likelihood is that Wenger will not buy a new striker because Walcott is back to his best, we won't buy another defensive/central midfielder because Wilshere is fit and raring to go and we will inevitably finish 3rd/4th and exit the Champions League before the Semi-finals again.
