If managers could be put grouped under the window, Louis van Gaal is undoubtedly Man Utd's most important purchase. With the influx of commercial deals and the claim of the financial warchest that the Red Devils have, Man Utd went into the window big, ready to bully.

Daley Blind at £14m is an incredible buy, he was the best player in the dutch league last season, had a phenomenal World Cup performance and is versatile in many positions- the lost Owen Hargreaves?

His passing ability and his versatility would be most welcome even though he might need to get used to the batterings of the league.

There was only one club he could go to, to grow properly, and was certain of game time and Luke Shaw did not hesistate to come to Old Trafford.

With Patrice Evra's departure, Luke Shaw can cement his name and place at the left back position over a decade. It is not a potential buy, he is a proven and established Premier League player who can only get better.

Ander Herrera during pre-season was a joy to watch, there was talent in the midfield. Everyone around him seem to be a superstar or made a phenomenal footballer, the Spaniard possesses great technique, passing abilities, scores goals, beats his markers, and wait for it, has good aggression in winning balls back, the lack of all those has been the story of Man Utd's midfield all in one player.

Radamel Falcao. First word you think of is goals. He would get you goals. He is a fine striker.

Falcao is a proven goalscorer with success in Spain, Portugal and France

This is not a history class, he still performs at the highest level. Falcao is a huge addition and when someone like that is available you ship out the Hernandez's, the Welbeck's for him, no question. Would his performances be affected by his previous injury? Only time can tell but great loan addition.

KEY SIGNING
Angel Di Maria and Man Utd, what were the odds given the current state the Red Devils are in that the two would be together? Finally Di Maria came to Old Trafford after much transfer saga with PSG and player exchanging words with the Los Blancos' president. Real Madrid's loss, Man Utd's gain.

Di Maria could prove to be a key factor if United are to push for the title this campaign

Tremendous work rate, skill to beat his marker, passing abilities, his high number of assists is a testimony to that. In the recent game against Germany, he scored one and assisted three.

Over the years he has matured and grown as a player, his decision making has greatly improved and is capable of being a team's engine than a role player. He is what Nani is yet to become.

In summary, if Nani was to be seen as app on the App Store as Winger 5.0, Di Maria was the 8.0. The difference is clear.

He plays in positions where United have been short of quality and his high work rate allows the 3-5-2 system, if still stuck with, to become natural to to those around him as his provides excellent cover.

The only negative to this transfer was the high cost but when you finish 7th in the league after winning the title the season before, shares could be forked out by the top bosses at Old Trafford to avoid such failures agan.

Thumbs up!  LVG's side are now strong enough to challenge with the likes of City and Chelsea

David Beckham, Ruud Vanistelrooy, Gabriel Heinze, Cristiano Ronaldo have left the Red Devils to the Los Blancos, this time around, the Devils got an angel, and not just any kind, the one that delivers. Gabriel-esque.

WORRIES

So you have all these star talents and you do not fix the most important thing to your new system, an experienced center half? LVG failed in this department and it might cost him this season.

People argue e.g Ray Wilkins, that money spent on Di Maria could have been used on Sami Khedira and Matt Hummels, two birds with a brick of cash?

Many pundits are of the opinion United needed a commanding midfielder like Khedira

The cost of bringing Falcao on loan would have clearly been considered so it might not be a worry for them but outside it is a bit of a scare given they were strengthening a place not necessarily in need of strengthening at such great cost.

Futhermore,  the signing of Daley Blind so late with less hassle from the selling club begs to make one think if he was the first choice at any time or the second, or the third.

VERDICT
Straight up, it's a better transfer window than Arsenal's while both teams did not address properly their central defence, Man Utd added more quality players than the Gunners did.

Improvement: United's transfer window this year was certainly better than the last

It came at a high cost, it came with questions of losing identity, it came with taunts of possibility of killing careers, but Man Utd are not in cruise control at the moment, it is all hands-on and all costs at the moment and the Red Devils were able and quick to understand such.
