I feel like Man City are getting too much shtick for what was definitely a poor performance. Let me explain. The team, and squad is in some ...
Kompany and Toure, arguably two of City's most solid, if not best, players and leaders in the last couple of years, are shadows of their former selves.
Without a marauding Toure at the centre of the park, Silva cannot be all silky (with no defensive duties) and run the game from where he pleases. Instead he is shunted out to the left-hand side. Kompany's replacement is Mangala. Either he needs time to adapt, or he's a bad player. Only Pellegrino (heehee) knows.
Zabaleta, once a fiery combination of power, strength and defensive acumen, has hit thirty and is slowing down. Navas, let's face it, has never had an end product. Usually this is masked because Silva shoulder's most of the creative burden.
City simply need to get rid of Toure, Zabaleta, Clichy, and Demichelis. And a chuck in reserves there like Sagna and Kolarov for good measure. Spend a hundred million over the summer. Buy quality wingers like De Bruyne or Greizman, and get on with it.
A centre back wouldn't hurt either, and a right back. £25mil a player. Don't think Pella's become a bad manager overnight, and he knows that many of his players are simply over the hill.
