The Super Eagles opened their AFCON 2017 qualifying campaign on a winning note after defeating Chad 2-0 in Kaduna.
Goals from Gbolahan Salami and Odion Ighalo in the second half secured all three points for the Eagles.
The first half which ended goalless, saw the Eagles struggle to create meaningful chances with Ahmed Musa's 22nd minutes free-kick and Salami's shot in the 34th minute the only real opportunities that came the Eagles way.
But in the second half, coach Stephen Keshi made some changes, bringing in Rabiu Ibrahim and Ighalo for Babatunde Michael and Aaron Samuel.
The changes made immediate impact as Ighalo provided the assist for Salami to score in the 63rd minute. And in the 78th Ighalo made it 2-0 for Nigeria from the penalty spot after he was fouled in the 18-yard box.
And prior to Ighalo converting from the spot, Ogenyi Onazi was sent off after getting into a scuffle with the Chadian players.
The Super Eagles will face Tanzania away in their next game with the game coming up on September 4, 2015.
