Our soccer timeline with you has been most impressive and we look forward to continue providing our services to you as we remain Nigeria’s most viewed sports blog.
You have been a part of our success this year and we remain indebted to you, the whole team at Wolexis.com appreciates you and for this we say a big thank you.
Moving on to what brought you to this article in the first place, we decided to compose our team of 2014.
Ideally, 2014 would have us include phenomenal Luiz Suarez but we decided to treat the first half of the season as a whole full year, with no further ado and the SkySports’ release as motivation, here is our EPL Team of the Year.
GOALKEEPER
DAVID DE GEA
Exceptional brilliance this season and such brilliance has kept Man Utd in continental places this season.
DEFENCE:
NATHANIEL CLYNE
Beast at the right back position for the Saints. Closest challenger would have been Ivanovic of Chelsea.
The English defender leads the Premier League tacklers with 78 tackles to his name already.

JOSE FONTE
Yes, ahead of Gary Cahill. The Portugese defender has been exceptional this season and at 31 years puts in performances that belie his age.
JOHN TERRY
Absolute Terry-fic , John this season. The Chelsea skipper has been a marshall at the backline this season for Chelsea and his ability to find the back of the net is outstanding.
More surprising is when you discover he has scored more goals than Barcelona’s iniesta.
CESAR AZPILICUETA
The Spaniard has definitely held his position at left-back and even though not a role he is natural to, the Chelsea fullback has been outstanding at it since he took over from Ashley Cole.
MIDFIELDERS
CESC FABREGAS
Arsene Wenger would still be regretting the fact that he did not resign the midfielder from Barcelona. 1563 passes, 61 chances created, and 13 assists to his name and also being second to Stoke’s Steve N’zonzi on miles completed.
NEMANJA MATIC
The tank, the wall, the ironman? Is there a nickname suggesting strength yet to be given to the midfielder? The Chelsea anchorman has been more than formidable this season.
ALEXIS SANCHEZ
The Chilean winger has been like Arsenal’s messiah this season. Alexis has scored 11 goals in 17 games and has created ten fewer chances with 51 this season.
FORWARDS
SERGIO AGUERO
Man City’s spearhead in attack this season. The Argentine has racked up 14 goals this season even on the back of an injury-hit campaign. Easy choice.
CHARLIE AUSTIN
The Lone Ranger for QPR fans at Loftus Road. Talks of international call-ups are on the way for the English international and the goals Charlie has brought to the team have kept the London team in a decent position to challenge for Premier League survival. Surprise pick, but worth the choice.
DIEGO COSTA
Took the league by the storm, not that we expected less from the Spanish striker but his blazing form caught us unawares. Bullish in play, the Spaniard has scored 13 goals already this season and has keyed in perfectly in his partnership with Cesc Fabregas.
BENCH PLAYERS:
THIBAUT COURTOIS, BRANISLAV IVANOVIC, GARY CAHILL, MORGAN SCHNEIDERLIN, ALEX SONG, EDEN HAZARD, WILFRED BONY.
HAPPY NEW YEAR
