LA Galaxy captain Robbie Keane late Wednesday night pipped Nigerian forward Obafemi Martins to the 2014 Volkswagen MLS Most Valuable Player award.
The 34-year-old Irish international enjoyed a phenomenal 2014, registering a career-high 19 goals and 14 assists over 29 appearances, directly contributing on nearly half of the Galaxy's league-leading 69 goals weighting a total vote of (88.69) to beat out the two other finalists – Seattle Sounders forward Obafemi Martins (63.22) and New England Revolution midfielder Lee Nguyen (57.54)
