With the season very close to it's climax, Kano Pillars currently sit on top of the log with 59 points, one more than Warri Wolves and two more than Enyimba International in 2nd and 3rd with 58 and 57 points respectively.
All three teams still have realistic chances of claiming the title this season. I bring to you Matchday 36 previews.
League leaders Kano Pillars travels to El Kanemi Warriors as Enyimba also play away to bottom placed Nembe City, Bayelsa United host Dolphins as Sharks of Port Harcourt welcome 2nd placed Warri Wolves.
These are some of the mouth watering fixture we look forward to on Matchday 36.
Lobi Stars vs Akwa United

And these time around it's gonna be the boys from Jalingo, 6th from bottom FC Taraba who will be gunning for an upset in Owerri, as they mount on the resounding victory in their last match over Lobi Stars.Heartland on the other hand will be pushing for a spot on the continent as they sit 9th on the log, 8 points adrift league leaders Kano Pillars.
Sharks vs Warri Wolves
It's gonna be two high scoring players against each other when the Wolves from Warri comes up against the Sharks in Port Harcourt. Christian Pyagbara of Sharks with 14goals and Gbolahan Salami with 16goals for Warri Wolves leading the line for their respective clubs.Sharks sit 10th with 51 points, 7 behind Warri Wolves in 2nd.
Wolves dismantled Crown FC 7goals to 1 in their last game and are just one points behind Kano Pillars at the top. A win for them against Sharks, who lost by a slim margin 1-0 to Rangers, and Kano Pillars dropping points away at El kanemi, will automatically put them on top of the league log. It promises to be an explosive game of football.
Gombe United vs Enugu Rangers
Gombe looks safe from relegation at the moment but they will be needing maximum points against the Rangers from Enugu to guarantee their stay in the NPFL next season.They currently sit 16th with 43 points, 3 points behind FC Taraba in 15 and just a point above Bayelsa United occupying the last relegation spot.
Enugu Rangers though, did their quest to play on the continent a whole lot of good with their 1-0 victory over Sharks FC, a point here today will be all they ask for as Osaguona Ighodaro continues to dazzle with 16goals so far this season.
El-Kanemi Warriors vs Kano Pillars
Table toppers Kano Pillars can't afford any slip at this crucial point in the season as Wolves and Enyimba continue to close down the gap at the top. However, their joy is that closest rivals Warri Wolves will also be playing away from home, while Emyimba also plays away at Nembe.El Kanemi lost their last match away to Enyimba by a lone goal and have nothing to fight for as they sit safely in 14th position with 48points. But they would want to keep their home pride when they host Kano Pillars today.
In other matches, Nasarawa United, playing for a spot on the continent and sitting 6th on the log with 51points will be hosting mid-table side Sunshine Stars of Akure at the Lafia Township Stadium. The boys from Akure occupy the 11th spot on the log as they hope on salvaging something from the game against Sai Masu Gida Boys
Down and out Nembe City hosts 3rd place Enyimba International FC of Aba. Ufon Udoh, highest goal scorer for Enyimba this season will be looking to help his side get maximum points as they chase down Kano Pillars and Warri Wolves sitting ahead of them on the log.
At the Kaduna Township Stadium, relegation battlers Kaduna United will play host to GIWA FC who sits comfortably in 13th position with 49points. Saleh Barnaba's men needs to win this match if they really want to avoid the drop. Kaduna United currently have 37points and 18th on the log.
In other centre, Dolphins travel to the Samuel Ogbemudia Stadium to play away to another relegation strugglers Bayelsa United. Dolphins are 4th with 54points, 3 behind Enyimba in 3rd. A win for them will push them further forward if they can as well challenge for the title.
Dolphins scored six in their last game against Nembe City and Emem Eduok has now scord 19goals so far this season for Dolphins.
And lastly at the Lekan Salami Stadium, dead and buried Crown FC will welcome Aba Warriors who can also mount a challenge for a spot on the continent as they boast of 52point already sitting 8th on the log
