Warri Wolves are now just one point behind Kano Pillars on the Glo Nigeria Premier League log after the Sea-Siders recorded a crucial 1-2 away victory over Bayelsa United on Sunday in one of the day’s Match Day 32 games.
Wolves who finished Sunday’s game at the Sam Ogbemudia Stadium with ten players and were without two of their influential players Gbolahan Salami and Azubieke Egwuekwe who are both away on national duties were still able to get the amazing result which has taken their points tally to 52 while Pillars remain on 53 after losing 1-0 to Sharks FC in Port Harcourt.
Wolves had the best of starts in Benin scoring inside the first few minutes of the game and moments later on, returnee striker Oghenekaro Etebo gave his side a 2-goal cushion when he curled in a free kick that the Bayelsa defence and keeper had no answer to.
Meanwhile in the game between Lobi Stars and Enugu Rangers, the Flying Antelopes’ unbeaten run finally ended as the Benue club posted a 2-0 win.
Crown FC’s relegation worries were further worsened as they could only play a disappointing 1-1 draw against Giwa FC.
Kaduna United could also not make the best of their home advantage as they could only manage a barren draw against El-Kanemi.
