The Summer transfer window closed on Monday night, teams around Europe were busy on paper works trying to tie down important deadline transfers. Last summer transfer window has been a very busy one in the Spanish league. Players such as Neyma, Bale, Guilavogui, Torje and Aldeweireld were introduced to the La Liga as new recruits. While Ozil, Navas, Higuain and the likes were exported.. Here are five inevitable lessons learnt from la liga’s transfer activities during the last summer market
THE OVER-RATING OF PLAYER’S MARKET VALUE
Compared to what used to occur, the transfer activities in La liga during the last concluded window has brought about questions of over-rating the market value of a player. Eye brows were raised by many when Real Madrid splashed £85m to sign Gareth Bale.
REDUCED HEAT ON MESSI/RONALDO MESSI RIVALRY
The acquisition of both Neymar and Bale by Barca and Madrid respectively means that the superiority tussle between Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi will now be reduced. The Spanish league will now have to contend four of the brightest stars in the game.
THE EL-CLASICO IS NOT ONLY PLAYED ON THE PITCH
Neymar became the first big name signing in La liga last summer. The 21 year old Brazilian arrived for £50m and this brought about race from bitter rival Real Madrid in order to acquire a bigger summer signing.
This shows that the “El classico” has moved beyond a football battle but also a financial tussle. This reflected in the large amount of money Real Madrid splashed on an average player (by record) like Gareth Bale. It is obvious that one of the main reasons for the acquisition of Bale by Madrid was to checkmate the signing of Neymar by Barcelona.
`LA LIGA MAINTAINS FINANCIAL RECORD
Over the years, La liga have been known to be a financial power house in the transfer markets. Record showed that Spanish teams have been directly involved in 75.6% of all big money transfers in Europe in the last couple of decades.
The huge amount of cash spent by La liga teams last summer further strengthened this huge financial record. Although Premiership spent the highest sum of money in total during the just concluded transfer market but Spanish teams top the ranking for the highest money spent on a single player.
THE EMERGENCE OF NEW PLAYERS
The sale of the household names in Spanish league such as Falcao, Negrado Ozil, Navas and Soldado will pave way for young players and some new faces who will come up to fill in the vacuums left by these prolific players. Young prospect such as Alvaro Morata of Madrid who shined for Spain at the just concluded U-21 championship in Turkey will definitely be a player to watch out for.
Another Madridster Jesse could capitaise on the sale of Higuain and become a favourite at the Bernabeu. Jesse scored 22 goals in 38 games in the Segunda division last season. David Villa’s move to A.Madrid might just be another positivity of this season, the Madrid based club will now have to depend on the 32 year old for goals following Falcao’s departure to the French Ligue 1. Isco is another must watch player in the a liga this season.
To hold the bull by the horn, the transfer window has come and gone, players have been bought and sold, but it is important to note that these transfer activities will have strong effects on the 2013/14 football season in the la liga
